This trabochet was built by UT students on a sandbar on the Mississippi River.  It was used to launch projectiles into the channel.  Unfortunately, the counterweight proved to be too massive (they used a large stump in a sling) and it broke after only 3 tosses.

......or maybe it was a fortuitous thing, because there had been talk that some students were thinking of launching people into the river!
